Gaming on the Nintendo Switch 2 has been an experience that’s been an extremely surprising one! With the more powerful, custom Nvidia Tegra chip inside this system. We have seen a bevy of third party developers leveraging this new tech to great boon. However, the most impressive one out of them all thus far has got to be from Capcom offering with, Street Fighter 6. A game that is fully showcasing what great efforts can do for a port of a more recent fighter. From its expert use of DLSS, to its ability to run laps around even the Series S from Xbox. Capcom has been able to show how powerful the Switch 2 system can be with this new chip and from a seasoned software team.
Now granted, I’m not going to bore you all with technical details. If you’d like that I will have to recommend you check out the embedded analysis from the fine folk over at, Digital Foundry. What I will say is if you were itching for a fully featured fighter with an active scene, portability in mind and an excuse to pad out your Switch 2 library; this is it. Now, I know that fighting games are not everyone’s cup of tea. Frankly, while I do enjoy them, they aren’t my first reach when it comes to playing a video game. Yet, it is the way in which Capcom was able to deliver a full-fledged, seamless experience with Street Fighter 6 that I feel obliged to talk about it. I feel obliged to recommend it.
This is not a water down port mind you. This is the full experience, intact with all of its bells and whistles while I cannot verify it, I’m almost fairly certain that it is also sharing software parity with all the other versions. As the game does present a cross play experience for the likes of PC, Xbox, PS4/PS5, and of course, with Nintendo switch 2. This does however mean that you will more than likely have to content with higher ranked players if you decided to dip into the online mode. Which, if you are like me and have a misplaced fear of playing against other players then you are in luck! As the game also ships with the typical offerings of arcade mode and normal versus options. This all, on top of Street Fighters 6 unique campaign mode, World Tour.
In this mode you will create a custom character and fight your way up the levels in an open world style map that allows you to pick Yakuza-esque fights with random npcs and the likes of Chun-Li or Juri. The mode lets you dress yourself up how you like and also allows your character to adopt the fighting styles of your favorites, should you find yourself not enjoying the Luke set you start with. While this campaign mode suffers the same issues that it does on every other platform, it doesn’t suffer any more issues. Which is great, because World Tour is quite possibly my favorite single-player campaign for a fighting game, since Soul Caliber IV.

Which for a retail cost of 59.99 USD, Street Fighters 6 Fighters Edition: Years 1-2, is a compelling purchase point. Especially given the selection of characters that you get to choose from and it’s flawless execution for portable play. Not only that, but if you are in the competitive scene, the Switch 2 will be considered as a legal system for tournaments this year! Which is great for the fighting community that is present on the platform. IF you are also someone who enjoys playing this with a fight stick, it does seem that many of the ones you may have used for other Switch titles, will still work great with this release!
