With the 2025 anime season upon us, it’s hard to not get excited for the new releases! However, isn’t I suggest some shows to add that have already been out and about? Some of these may be ones you’ve heard about, but never watched. Others might be entirely new to you! My hope here is that you can find something new to add to your watchlist. All of the titles mentioned will be available on Crunchyroll in the US so you will know where to find it. So, without further ado, let’s get this show on the road!

Start The Year Off Right With Cozy Camping!

Ever go on those first hikes of the year? Maybe you prefer to camp out instead. Laid Back Camp (YuruCamp) is a show that will kindle your love for camping! Following a colorful cast of high school girls who just want to enjoy the benefits of camping, the series is everything but tense. Each episode is just about a camping trip, a job to save up for that new tent or a time spent wth friends!

The long running series has three current seasons, a movie, a live-action spin-off and a mini-series. So there is a lot to digest and dig in here! Best of all, if you enjoy the cozy atmosphere, then the locations and music will help you feel at ease! Frankly speaking, it really makes me want to go out camping more! Especially in Japan, as each episode features an actual campground or location that you can actually visit or stay!

Take a Day Off From Villainy This Year!

Do you ever dread the back to work after the holiday feeling? Just want to have another day off with out work interfering? Then, Mr. Villain’s Day Off might be the show for you! In this series we follow Warumono a mighty villain from a distant world bent on the destruction of humanity! Yet, on his days off he’d much rather go to the local zoo and observe the adorably cute and amazing Panda’s.

However with colleagues and foes from the Ranger team always running into him, can he ever find the time to enjoy a day off?! This light-hearted slice of life is a perfect anime for those of us having to suffer heading back into work over the holiday period. Plus who doesn’t love a show that features cute pandas?! Each episode is a fun exploration of the big bad as he attempts to learn more about Earth and to also just take a day off from work!

Discover a New Journey For a New Year!

Looking to start the year of on the right footing? Wanting to experience a new tale, the next page in an unwritten story? Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End explores the after-effects of when the heroes party finally defeats the demon king. Yet, this is also a deeply seated tale of love, loss, regret and remembering. Frieren starts us where most tales end and it is from here that a new chapter is often born. Especially for someone as long lived as an elf.

I don’t think I can stress just how prolific this show is and has been. Not only has it been the longest and current running show to have dethroned the titan of anime story telling that was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It is also the show that will tear your heart out, that will show you a new perspective on how it is to know someone and what we do with the memories of those we’ve long lost.

I could go on and on, dig deeper, but I think that would be best saved for another post. I’d love to be objective and look at it from the perspective of what it has achieved. This anime, this manga is truly a special experience for anyone in life. You don’t have to love fantasy, you don’t have to necessarily love anime. You just need to love a story that chooses to tackle the hard faced truths when it comes to life. So will you take a leap of faith and put your footing onto the path towards a new adventure?
