One thing about Nintendo Directs are always certain: They get you talking! So with today’s Partner direct out of the way, what were some of the favorites that we got to relish in, during the 30 minute presentation? Quite a lot actually! Sadly however, most of these titles were to be expected and not too much of anything new was offered. However, that isn’t to say that there were not any standout additions to be had! If you would like to view the direct, we will have an embedded option for you to click on just down below!

The first game to peak our surprise meter was the hit survival game, Valheim! Having come out on PC a few years ago and making the top of the must play for Steam Deck list, this Viking inspired survival crafter is a delight to see making its debut on Switch 2! With all the bells and whistles added from prior updates, this port will finally give the Switch 2 a meaty and modern survival crafter. Finding yourself in an unknown land, you will strike out to survive, craft and explore the lands around you and once you’ve conquered the area of your spawn, you can set sail for new islands. If you are itching to enjoy the Viking-inspired survival with others, you can enjoy it with up to 9 other players for a total of 10! The game is launching later this year. It should be wise to note that the game is still considered to be in early access on PC and as such there is still updates galore to arrive for sure.

If you cannot wait for the Switch 2 version, you can of course enjoy it on PC, as well as on early access through Xbox Series and One.

The next announced games were to be expected, however it was the inclusion of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, that caught us by storm! Having launched last year on modern systems to great clamor and reverence, Oblivion Remastered was a surprise drop that totally reignited love for the fourth entry in the much beloved Elder Scrolls series. Boasting high fidelity graphics and improved models across the board, the remaster feels almost more like a remake in some aspects. However, this remaster is built upon the bones of the original and as such you can expect to find lovely amounts of silly bugs and quirks that gave this entry such a meme-able history.

While it is unsure when this will be releasing onto the Switch 2, as with Valheim, only a 2026 date was provided for its release. It should be noted that this release on Switch 2 will be the first time that Elder Scrolls IV has graced a Nintendo system. Which in of itself is brilliant and will open the door to so many gamers getting to experience the charm of Oblivion for the very first time. Bundled with all the prior releases DLC, including the very first paid cosmetic DLC, Oblviion Remastered is sure to give you countless hours of entertainment as you jump your way across Cyrodiil as you raise that acrobatics skill.

The other expected announcement, due to murmurings from Square Enix themselves, was that of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. With this now officially confirmed, and for a June 3rd, 2026 release date, now is the perfect time to jump in on a remake of a profound entry in the series. While I personally never really found the original to be my favorite entry in the much beloved Final Fantasy series, this remake project has converted me. With Remake Intergrade having just launch a mere few days ago to much acclaim, Rebirth is going to be a bigger beast by far. Boasting a more open exploration than compared to the confined spaces of Midgar in Remake, Rebirth will take us into the wilds as we give chance to the one-winged angel himself. Now with more fluff and experiences to be had, such as a beach episode and a date with your female lead of choice. This second entry is sure to dazzle Switch 2 owners to be certain!

Switch 2 owners can expect pretty much similar performance to what we have seen with the Remake release, however without a proper hands on this is purely speculation on our part. The games do share a common code and are both using Unreal Engine 4 for their game development, so it has that going for it! With the third entry having also just been confirmed to be running the same code, chances are high that we will get to enjoy the entirety of this amazing remake on Switch 2!

These were some of our favorite announcements from the direct, we are curious to know if anything else showcased was also on your radar!
