Anime Beginners: The Best Anime For The Newly Inducted!

So you are sitting there, having finally convinced the family or a few friends to actually watch an anime with you. Question is… what one do you show them? You don’t want to freak them out or make them uncomfortable. You could show them Kill la Kill but then they’d think you a massive pervert. Okay maybe not that one… What about Mirai Nikki? No, that’s too psycho and again, lewd. So what can you show them? Well, Lucky for you I’ve got a list of titles that I think may fit what you need perfectly.

Yuru Camp or Laid-Back Camp is the newest to my list and one that is pure beyond belief. This show is so pure that it makes the top of my recommend list to show any newcomer. It follows the passionate high school camping group as they do just what the title implies. They have relaxed camping sessions surrounded by laughs, good food and magnificent scenery. There is no over-the-top violence or half naked ladies to worry about here. Just a fun and pure show for all ages to enjoy; not to mention a stellar cast.

Nichijou takes comedic value to heart and keeps it looking PG. This over the top comedy will look good on any screen and will still give everyone who watches it a laugh. Not every skit is solid, but there is more than enough content here to enjoy. This anime follows the less than ordinary lives of several characters as they dream up devious and peculiar forms of humor.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood takes story telling to a 10 and takes you for a ride. This is my favorite FMA anime and it makes my list due to the superb quality of storytelling that is accessible to all viewer groups. My mother may not be the biggest anime enthusiast, but this is an anime that she thoroughly enjoys. It is my golden child for English dubs and the story it tells is one of hope and inspiration. It has action without being too over-the-top with its violence. Still I would advise younger ones not watch this due to some graphic scenes.

Studio Ghibli movies are a pretty safe bet – still has the ability to wow a beginner without scaring them off with the more quirky anime tropes.
