Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: The Ultimate Solo and Party Racing Game!

Grab a Joy-Con and friends (friends are optional) to turn the party up to an 11! The stakes for tonights event? Your pride and renown as the best Mario Kart player in all the land. In my case it would be the best Mario Kart player amongst my siblings. Very few games can set fire and anger to my family, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can. For other families it can be a board game or a card game that sets them off; for us it is any Mario party game. The latest Mario Kart in the series continues an excellence in karting simulation and over all fun. The game is layered in difficulty and accessibility that is much better crafted than any other title before it.

A racing game that is accessible as it is complex. We live in a day and age where racing games are getting more and more realistic. They have shifters, they have complex methods of driving and interacting with how we play. Then there is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a game that takes simplicity to heart, but still manages to make a racing game that is accessible. The key difference here is the advancing difficulty through speed categories. They can keep the game relatively accessible and yet they can also keep it engaging and challenging. Never have I ever been put through the ring like I have on the games 200cc mode; AI is brutal and the speed insane.

Having control over the various Karts in the game is also quite helpful in defining how fast one can drive or how easy one can navigate. Finding this balance is quite easy and open to everyone; so long as they can grasp the knowledge of bar based statistics.

A Mario Kart with shine and gloss, but the same replay factors apply. Now this sort of game will have a shorter burn than most others. Outside of online play and tournament style competitions the game can burn short for most. For an individual like myself this game has endless hours of replay factors to enjoy. From the almost endless kart customization to the speed and map types. Every option that I have, adds a new layer of enjoyment. That may not be enough for everyone else and if you lack others who wish to play then you are running on fumes.

To be frank, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a game that rides a fine line for those who want more out of a racing simulation and for those seeking the ultimate party game that can be enjoyed by all ages. If you want the most in-depth game imaginable then I would advise to look elsewhere, but if you can find the time to appreciate a gem of a game, then pick it up. You’ll find it hard to not enjoy a game that can provide endless amounts of fun and rivalry among friends and family alike.

OGZ recommends grabbing this game, if only for the ease of play and party-style fun!
