Carrying on with even more exciting anime related news Viz Media will debut the latest entry in it’s amazing Studio Ghibli library: The Art of the Castle In the Sky! This is a phenomenal piece of work by Haya Miyazaki as it was the first feature film that was produced by the studio; how crazy is that! The book will feature full color pages all kept snug and protected by a beautiful hardcover. This will allow us passionate fans a window into the creative mindset of Miyazaki at the time of production. Here is a provided comment that details a bit about Castle in the Sky.

Castle in the Sky was released 30 years ago this year, and it captures all of Miyazaki’s major themes through his works with beautiful animation and joyous storytelling – the power of flight, the bravery of young women and a world wrecked by change. This comprehensive book traces the animated film’s development from conception all the way to final cut using production sketches & timelines, storyboards, and the draft screenplay! Beloved by millions around the world, the story follows Sheeta, a girl who has the power to defy gravity. On the run from pirates, she meets young inventor Pazu and together they explore the secrets of Laputa, a flying city constructed by a long- lost race of people!

The hardcover will release on October 18th of this year and will be available for purchase from Viz Media’s website and possible other major book retailers.
