Anime Article Gaming Let's Talk Let's Talk: Gaming Persona 4 PS Vita

The State of My PS Vita Collection (2016)

Hello everyone! If you haven’t noticed we have had a high trend in the gaming section as of late, mainly due to the fact that the anime I am watching are all still running so it allows me sometime to focus on the other side of the website! Now this may not be a fan-favorite but it is the gaming console that I really, really love. The PS Vita is an underdog. There is no coloring that and there is no hiding the fact that it is a console that is down in the slumps, it’s papa having left it behind to fend for itself. Harsh? Well, just stating the painfully obvious because, this is an awesome system. I have talked about the PS Vita many times before on this site but not as much as say PC or the PS4. Heck, I even sadly went a few months without actually playing the handheld system. That however is changing. I am restructuring how I play games and I am giving a better focus to a system that truly shines. To borrow a quote from the PS Vita Reddit page, once you have the system in your hands and you are playing it, you get it. You understand that us die hard adopters and supporters feel for the system. It is just an outstanding platform that shines in a way that is uniquely its own.

This past April 17th marked the one year anniversary of my ownership of the amazing system. I started the ride with nothing more than Persona 4 Golden and a 4gb memory card. Not to mention several demo’s because you download those demos. Much to my surprise I also got to grab Killzone: Mercenary as a free addition thanks to my PS3’s PS+ Subscription. That was such an ideal start that I felt like I got off to a great start with the Vita. Now again this handheld is not for everyone nor is it lacking in games. The conception is that the system has no games when in fact it has an ever increasing library of indie and third party titles; not to mention a healthy import of Japan-exclusive release titles. If the North American ones are not for you then rejoice, the handheld is unlocked for global play and can play Australian titles as well as Japanese ones. Just be mindful of the international shipping costs. Now I am getting a bit off track but trust me when I say that the system is fantastic.

So how is my collection doing? Well I have a healthy digital collection and a growing physical one. I just recently added three physical titles to my collection and I look to grow that collection progressively throughout the year. I am trying my best to go into the Vita’s library with an opening mindset and to look at every game. From the “not so hot” to the “definitely pick this one up.” I want to experience it all to the fullest. Right now my collection mainly consists of titles that are generally well received with a few oddities here and there. While I have yet to fully review all of my PS Vita games, I do wish to at least post my general reviews for the title on our site under our new PS Vita section! So without further adieu, what are the titles that I have in my collection that is a physical game release?

My Vita Slim and current physical collection!
  • Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls
  • Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax
  • Freedom Wars
  • Hatsune Miku Project Diva f-2nd
  • Persona 4 Dancing All Night
  • Persona 4 Golden
  • Trillion: God of Destruction
  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss

As far as the digital titles are concerned I do have a decent amount that are split between PS Vita, as well as some PSP titles. I have played a few indie titles but I want to focus on the titles that have been made for the Vita or the PSP when it comes to my digital releases. The titles are as follows…

  • Killzone Mercenary
  • Neptunia Re;Birth 2
  • Ragnarok Odyssey ACE
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of The Lions
  • God of War: Ghost of Sparta
  • Patapon

These are the only digital titles that I have and while yes, the PS+ subscription greatly increases that library count, I tend to only download a few, the two notable ones being Killzone and God of War. While I started this adventure with only a 4gb card, I have since upgraded to a 32gb and am looking to eventually grab a 64gb card when the opportunity presents itself. I will also be showcasing how I have my PS Vita setup! I am currently rocking a Persona 4 Dancing All night theme which looks amazingly beautiful. It is 2.99USD on the US PSN store. Small price to pay when compared to the base Vita theme. I do hope to pick up the new Hatsune Miku game this August, as well as possibly the new Psycho Pass game that is due out soon as well. I also plan to venture into the import territory by picking up KanColle Kai, DoA Xtreme 3 and other titles. 1. I think we’ve already added each other. I’ve just haven’t been on much lately. Right now, I’m trying to finish Norn9 right now, then maybe the Arslan game for PS4 next.

  1. I still love my Vita even though his older bro, PS4, is getting most of the attention. Handheld is truly convenient when you’re just laying in bed or off to somewhere far. Odin Sphere’s getting a PS4 and Vita release but I’m more inclined to getting Vita copy 😉

    1. Indeed! Sorry for the late response! My PS4 tends to get a lot more attention too but seeing as I also just got a PSP-3001 I am eager to see what if both of these handhelds will take down my love of my PS4 together. Now sadly begins the tale of balancing playtime….

      1. Haha! I can’t disagree with you there. I’m only limited to once a week of gaming for now since I have a huge backlog material to cover (work is another story), but having a PSP/Vita in between small breaks is a good change of pace with those classic PS1 ports.
