Spotted by a good friend of ours who stalks the pages of Anime News Network, the first few images have been thrown out into the wild and what is even better is that the advance ticket sales feature some exclusive artwork! I would literally pay an arm and a leg for one of these, just to have and say, “Yeah, I go one of the KanColle tickets.” I should also mention that select theaters, possibly all the ones participating, will also hand out promotional postcards while supplies last. Advance ticket sales are in the park of about 1500¥ or roughly 13.50USD.

The film is planned for a premier sometime this year, as well as a second season! After having watched the first season I can safely say that I am a huge fan of the series. KanColle is an anime about Warship Girls, also referred to as Fleet Girls, who fight to protect humanities oceans against the threat of the ‘Deep Sea Fleet’ who stalk the waters and generally make life miserable. While the origins of this dark fleet are unknown, most fans hypothesize that they are formerly sunk Fleet girls. The anime is available for streaming from Crunchyroll and you can also get your feet wet with the original browser based game that started the craze! While we have not personally played it, it has been quite popular for sometime now in Japan. The player assumes the role of an admiral and commands a customized deck of fleet girls and manages the war against the ‘Deep Sea Fleet’. The success of both the original game and the anime have lead to the developer launching a more improved version of the game on the PS Vita called, “KanColle Kai”

  1. An anime about warships and girls? That’s sound odd but I can’t argue with that if people love it. The name KanColle sounds familiar but never heard of it. This is actually new to me.

  2. I’ve heard about this anime though I’ve never watched it. Sounds interesting! I kind of got reminded of Arpeggio of Blue Steel (I liked that anime). I guess I’ll be checking this out!
