Get your romantic swing on and get into gear with some anime recommendations! We all love a good romance, tear jerk or just plain happily ever after. So grab your blanket, pillow, boy/girl you love and sit down to some pretty awesome anime to watch this coming Valentines day! Also, even if you don’t have that special someone to share these with, watch them anyway, I guarantee they will still make you smile and think happy thoughts!
First up on our list is a standard in my book, Chobits. This classic anime of a man and an android just learning about life and love is a sweet and yet tragic story that will leave you both happy and possibly deeply saddened near the ending! The art style shows it is a bit older but I think it still can hold up to a lot, if not most, of the romantic anime floating about. It can be credited to influencing a lot of kids and young teens in singing it’s super catchy opening song and also falling in love with super adorable androids. Chobits can be enjoyed on Funimation!
Second up to base is… One Week Friends. While incredibly sad and somber at a ton of parts, this anime was watched out of curiosity by myself and I really enjoyed it. The art style is just the right amount of unique and amazing and the characters are freaking adorable. The story itself follows a man trying to make friends with a girl who can only seem to remember up to a week and then wakes up the following Monday with no memories of her engagements with others. While again, a sadder anime it will leave you smiling by the end of its run. One Week Friends can still be enjoyed on Crucnhyroll!
The third up to bat is a small anime that again is full of heart ache and trying to find that love in the most unlikely of places and that is Toradora. The anime wowed me early last year and I cannot seem to shut up about it. The anime tells the story of two neighbors and two unlikely loves that blossom over the course of the anime and can manage to melt your heart with its godly composition and it’s superb story line that seems to keep you reeled in for more and looking for this anime to continue on without halting. Toradora can be enjoyed via Viewster or Crunchyroll!
The Fourth title and the one that got me into the romantic anime genre was the ever aweomse, adorably cute… Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions (: Ren) Both the first and second seasons of this anime are immensely adorable and dear god will it make you feel all lovey-dovey and mushy after watching this anime. It has it’s silly moments and its very serious parts, so much so that it will draw tears. The anime is a lovely tale of love between two characters who have had an influence on each other when they were younger. Now they are in a situation where a budding love and romance develops and… You know what, just watch this anime okay? It is so freaking cute and gushy that I just need to watch it right now… The anime in both its seasons can be enjoyed on Crunchyroll!
The Fifth and final entry for this article is the anime, Nisekoi. While not particularly focused on the deep emotions and the gushy, lovey atmosphere, it still is an anime that has romance at its heart. While generally it is seen as a harem romance, due to the fact he has multiple love interests, the anime does a good enough job with giving the characters each an ample amount of screen time and an ample amount of love interest development. The anime is quirky and odd but it is sweet and does have it’s super touching moments. Nisekoi does have two seasons and it can all be enjoyed from the comfort of Crunchyroll.
