When it comes down to an anime that has soul, heart, courage, inspiration and disappointment, Love Live! fills the role nicely. With wonderful animations, songs and the spirit of pushing ones self to over come any obstacle that may hinder you, Love Live! easily helps to inspire and leave a lasting impression. The Anime follows nine girls through their high school days as they struggle to help keep the school they all love open for future students. All while doing this, they find themselves brought together through song; bear with me, this may get cheesy or very silly. Muse is thus born and through each episode new members and new obstacles present themselves for the school idol group.
The anime overall is all about the songs. But one could easily watch this anime for the story too. The passionate drive that gives each character their own reason for being in the group or their own reason for furthering themselves and those around them, is enough to give someone to courage to look at their own goals and judged them accordingly. The characters personalities are all even more diverse and developed than most anime, however that is a bit of a stretch as there have been plenty of anime in recent years that have raised the bar more and more. Yes this is a bit of a moe anime and not one that most males of the mass population would enjoy sitting down with their buds and watching BUT, it does have a lot of great things going for it. If you like Jpop, then you will love the choice of songs and the 3D/2D performances that are tied with each song. Yet, each song is a struggle to get up to for the episodes and often times the song reflects the desire or struggle that Muse went through in order to bring that song to the stage.
With a cast of nine characters, it will be quite easy to find one you would like. Each one has a story to tell and each one has something unique to add to Muse to help make it more and to make it whole. Whether it was never having friends to talk with or finding out that the people around you are just as passionate about singing as you were, if not even more so. Here they are below in no specific order. Full names provided below the image.

Since we can all find a character we like, I can say that Maki Nishikino is my favorite. For no other reasons than how I picked my favorite sports team as a kid. She seemed interesting and her character was just that. That isn’t to say that there isn’t a character that stands out more so….
To be honest I never thought I could sit down and watch an anime like this. Yes, I have seen more moe or more cutesy, but this was a bit different and I didn’t quite know what I was getting into at the time. It took my friend who went with me to Naka-Kon to convince me to fully sit down and watch it through to thoroughly enjoy what it all has to offer. There are some… emotional moments that may spur a tear or two and the thoughts and efforts and the lessons learned are very meaningful and can have a profound impact upon the viewer. Like any good piece of art or reading material, Love Live performs admirably and stands out as an anime that is truly something unique, ditzy and beautiful. It has it’s share of silly moments and very light fan service, heck I don’t even know if it would even constitute being called fan service. So, if you are feeling musical or down for something a bit easy going and memorable, be sure to give Love Live a chance like I did. It may seem odd at first if this is a genre you are not used to but, trust me, it will grow on you and you will be eagerly waiting the movie that is supposed to be releasing sometime June this year. This wonderful anime can be viewed on Crunchyroll and Hulu! Did I forget to mention this is also a rhythm game that is availible on the Apple App store & Google Play store? Links below!
